Good and Pleasant Unity

Read Psalms 120:1 through 135:21

Many parents know how upsetting it is to have a backseat full of squabbling children. Your attention can be diverted from watching the traffic. It is difficult to make it through a day at work if office politics have caused strife. Again, your attention can be redirected from the important responsibilities of your job. Organizations and families have to constantly work at unity.

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe (Psalm 133:1–2).

A. W. Tozer said that if pianos are tuned to one tuning fork, they “are automatically tuned to each other.” If we are all tuned to Christ, we are tuned to each other. Unity in the family, church, and attitudes among Christians in the workplace is attractive and may draw people to Christ. Tension relief is a natural outcome of unity, which makes life in the family, church, and workplace much more comfortable.

PRAYER SUGGESTION: Lord, let me and other Christians be “tuned” to You in unity.
