Read 1 Chronicles 28:1 through 29:30
God is the true king over all people and particularly over Israel. Solomon was chosen and anointed by the Lord to be king over the nation of Israel, to sit “on the throne of the Lord.” He was set apart to reign as God’s regent over His people.
So Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him (1 Chronicles 29:23).
Solomon’s reign foreshadowed that of the coming Messiah—a time of divine blessing, peace, and prosperity. His subjects pledged loyal submission to him. And God gave him greater splendor and wisdom than had ever been known.
As long as God remained on the throne of the king’s heart, things went well. The same is true for every person. We must surrender our will, our possessions, and our lives to His rule. That will lead to success in this life and the next.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Make sure God is Lord of your life.
