Known, Yet Loved

Read Psalms 136:1 through 142:7

Why do attempts to communicate with others sometimes end in frustration?

Perhaps because no other human being is capable of grasping the joys, sorrows, hopes, and fears that have formed a unique individual. Even parents, friends, and spouses, have little understanding of what’s happening in the depths of a person’s soul. But there is someone who fully understands.

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar (Psalm 139:1–2).

Nothing is hidden from God. Believers thrive in the Father’s presence because of their confidence that, in Christ, they’re fully accepted.

Even when God is at work in the Christian’s heart to eliminate willfulness and other areas of vulnerability, believers can be certain that everything is being done for their benefit. What a privilege to be known to the depths of the soul . . . and yet loved!

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY: Set aside time each day to sit alone with God, enjoying His presence and basking in His love.
