Read Exodus 30:11 through 32:35
Moses and the Israelites had already lived an incredible miracle. But, when Moses did not arrive quickly enough from His encounter with God, fleshly desires lured the nation to take matters into their own hands.
When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him” (Exodus 32:1).
How sad to notice the two extremes. In one part of the story Moses is waiting on God. In the other part, his followers are choosing to wait no longer.
What do you do when God takes too long? Have you made incorrect choices because there seemed to be no response from God? How did the results affect you? Would things have been better if you had waited?
It is so much better to trust God’s timing.
Challenge for Today: Dare yourself to wait for God’s timing, even when it feels like too long.
