Walking in the Light

Read  1 John 1:1–2:29

Patrick claimed to live in Christ. He said he was a Christian who walked in the light. But Patrick was hiding some secret sins. He walked in darkness. He claimed to know Jesus, but did not live like Jesus or obey God’s commands. He would not even admit his own sin. In order to really have fellowship with Christ, Patrick needed to confess his sins and not continue to do them.

If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth (1 John 1:6).

As Christians we cannot live their lives in darkness, doing whatever we want, disregarding whether or not it pleases God. We may slip and falter from time to time, but we must not make a habit of sinning. In order to have fellowship with Christ and be part of the family of God, we must live like Jesus did. When we sin, we must confess our sins. Then Jesus will forgive our sins, and as newly forgiven Christians, we may live in righteousness.

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY:

If you are in sin, confess your sins to God and ask for forgiveness. Obey His Word, and walk as Jesus did. Then you will be walking in the light.
