Seek His Face

Read 1 Chronicles 13:1 through 16:43

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always (1 Chronicles 16:11).

King David wanted to bring the ark of God back to Jerusalem. The first attempt to move the ark was disastrous because he didn’t follow God’s commands for transporting it. Putting the ark on an oxen-drawn cart was all wrong. David realized later that he hadn’t asked the Lord how to move it.

When the Levites carried the ark of God with poles on their shoulders, things went smoothly. God’s presence could not be carried by animals. God wanted the Levites to carry the ark by hand. He required holy hands for this task.

People, not animals, carry God’s message of redemption. Animals don’t share the gospel with others; people do. When the Israelites sought the Lord’s direction and obeyed it, they were blessed.

Do we seek the Lord’s direction in every area of our lives? Or, are we charging ahead with our own plans and agenda? We need to be careful to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in all aspects of our lives.

Prayer Suggestion: Ask the Lord to show you whom He wants you to carry the gospel message to today.
