Seek God’s Kingdom

Read Luke 12:22–48

In Luke 12 Jesus spoke to His followers about their values. He first consoled those who needed confirmation of their worth in God’s sight. He then addressed the wealthy and the sin of greed. To summarize the topic, He differentiated between worldly and eternal treasures.

“Seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well” (Luke 12:31).

Believers should not be like the rich fool whom Jesus mentioned earlier (12:13–21), whose heart was focused only on material things, and not on God.

The Father understands your desires and will supply each of your needs. He will not fail you when you trust Him and seek to glorify Him in your life. Instead of focusing on personal needs, Jesus said that a believer should “seek his kingdom.” Jesus wants you to value your relationship with the Father more than your status among family or friends. In the end, when you realize that your true treasure lies in Him, you will not worry about what others think or have.

Thought for Today: Your treasure is in your relationship with God.
