Seeing God

Read Job 17:1 through 20:29

Does your heart yearn within you for God? Do you try to see His work in the here and now? Have the troubles you’ve faced blinded you to His purpose?

“In my flesh, I will see God” (Job 19:26).

Job longed for the day that he would see God face-to face. His faith was built on this hope, but he struggled to see God at work in the troubles of life. Heartaches and sorrows often choke out a person’s zeal for God. People shuffle through their days, burdened down with cares, and they miss seeing Him.

People need His Spirit to enlighten them. With the help of the Holy Spirit, Christians see God in everything. They hear His voice in the preacher giving the sermon. They see God’s hands in the volunteer serving a meal at a homeless shelter. They glimpse His love in the mom driving her kids to church. Each example encourages others to give thanks to God for His involvement in their lives. He cares for His people. He is always making everything beautiful in His time. Gaze in awe on the handiwork of God. It’s worth seeing.

PRAYER SUGGESTION: Ask God’s Spirit to open your eyes to His work in the world around you!
