Out of Darkness

Read Ezekiel 4:1 through 11:25

He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land’” (Ezekiel 8:12).

The elders of Israel pretended to worship God, but behind closed doors, they worshiped pagan idols. These rituals were done in the darkness and in secret. However, the Bible says that there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open (Luke 8:17). Jesus said, “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs” (Matthew 10:27).

Any groups or societies that hold their meetings in secret and have secret rituals cannot be of God, no matter how good they appear. The Bible says that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). We should be children of light, because God is light. When we are children of the light, Paul tells us that we cannot be of the darkness at all (1 Thessalonians 5:4,5).

Prayer suggestion: Pray that those who are in darkness would find the light of Christ
