Read John 6:1 through 7:53
Legendary coach John Wooden of UCLA fame used to tell the story of how a basketball team is similar to a car. Some players were incredible engines, like many of the Hall of Fame players he coached. Others were like wheels, and still others were like lug nuts. They weren’t all the same. Each player had a role and was expected to give 100 percent because his role was important. Coach Wooden concluded the story by saying that he was the driver. It’s amazing what can happen on a team when everyone gives his best.
It’s like what happens when people give God their best too, even if the offering seems puny.
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (John 6:9).
After giving thanks, Jesus proceeded to feed five thousand people with the offering.
All the boy had plus God’s blessing yielded more than enough.
That’s a lesson for everyone.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Do not let what you cannot do stop you from doing what you can.
