It’s Not Fair!

Read Jeremiah 12:1 through 14:22

You are always righteous, O Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? (Jeremiah 12:1).

Life can seem so unfair. A good person gets sick and dies young, while someone wicked gets ahead in life. Where is God while all this is going on? How can He stand by and let situations like this continue?

Jeremiah saw the rampant sin of Judah and wondered why God had not done anything about it. He even asked why. God answered him by commanding him to pronounce doom on those who appeared to be getting away with murder. The Lord had seen their deeds all along. But His timing differed from Jeremiah’s.

Are you wrestling with why God has allowed something to occur? Remember, in the scheme of things, a lifetime is exceedingly short. God sees all, knows all, and cares about fairness. Although He may not correct a bad situation when you think He should, in the end, evil will be judged and punished.

PRAYER SUGGESTION:

Lord, help me to leave in Your hands the unfairness around me.
