If You Only Knew

Read John 4:1 through 5:47

There are six essentials for any good news story: who, what, when, where, why, and how. Rudyard Kipling called them “six honest serving men” who taught him all he knew. The gospel is the greatest news story the world has ever heard.

The “who” is Jesus; the “what” is the plan of salvation; the “when” is “when the set time had fully come” (Galatians 4:4), the “where” was on the Cross, the “why” is so all might be saved; and the “how” is through Christ’s sacrifice.

The Samaritan woman at the well desperately needed to hear this story.

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water” (John 4:10).

This is the good news Christians have to share with others. If sinners only knew who Jesus is and what He has to offer, their lives would be changed forever.

Challenge for Today:

Perhaps this week you could go out of your way to tell someone about Jesus.
