Read Genesis 46:5 through 48:22
The time had finally come. After years of separation, Joseph would finally see his father, Jacob.
As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father and wept for a long time (Genesis 46:29).
Joseph stood before his father, having seen God’s vision fulfilled. This scene of restoration is only one of many scattered throughout Scripture.
Consider Job. In a matter of moments, he lost everything—with the exception of his health (Job 1:6–22.) And it was only a matter of time before his health failed as well. But he remained faithful—and in the end, “The Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10). After incredible devastation, God promises the people of Israel, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten” (Joel 2:25). He then describes a season of plenty that awaits them. God wants us to look and see what He has done—that we too may find comfort when suffering great loss.
Thought for Today: God will not be outdone in His goodness toward His people.
