Read Hebrews 11:1 through 13:25
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1).
A hindrance may slow down progress, but it need not stop it. The presence of those hindrances, does not mean the inevitable destruction of progress. The race that is started is the race that must be finished. The cords of sin that entangle should be broken and shaken off. The hindrances that impede must be removed or circumvented.
Entanglements are not to be courted or examined, they are to be thrown off. Too much focus on the problem can cause a loss of perspective, making the obstacle appear larger than it actually is. The call is for decisive action
in dealing with hindrances and sins that threaten to bog down the believer. That action is to throw it off. Keep moving forward. Renew the focus.
The eyes must be fixed on Christ, not on the problem. Do what needs to be done at the moment and move on.
Though for Today:
I will throw off everything that hinders my progress.
