Develop Your Aim

Read Joshua 7:1 through 8:35

Eleven-year-old Jeremy waited for three years—which felt like a lifetime—for this moment. Dennis, his father, enrolled him in a firearms safety class offered in the community. Now, Jeremy was finally at the shooting range after several weekly classroom sessions. Jeremy listened carefully to the leader’s directions on how to adjust the sights on the gun and how to take aim at the target. He later handed his father a paper bull’s-eye hit by several accurate shots. His father just smiled proudly.

The Lord said to Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the javelin that is in your hand, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out toward the city the javelin that was in his hand (Joshua 8:18).

At what are you aiming your life? Believers in Christ will live most effectively when their time, energy, and gifts are focused on a proper target. Search the Bible for what God values the most, and point yourself daily in that direction. As you invest your life in Him, He will reward you with victory, just as He did for Joshua.

Prayer Suggestion: Father, give me the goals that please You the most.
