Cleansed to Serve

Read Hebrews 7:1 through 10:39

“I have a beautiful house—if I ever cleared out all the clutter so someone could see it.”

Sometimes life seems like that beautiful house no one can see because of all the clutter. Talents, plans, dreams, and other personal characteristics may seem swallowed up by sin. God, however, provided a plan to clear out the clutter and let that “beautiful house” be seen.

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! (Hebrews 9:14).

Notice the word “serve” in this passage. The sacrifice made by Christ allows the redeemed to serve the Lord. Service means far more than simply setting our “beauti- ful houses” along the side of life’s road for people to admire. It means actively touching the lives of those out- side His grace and pointing them to the way of cleans- ing and salvation. Having a pure conscience before

God removes those barriers caused by sin that prevent Christians from touching the lives of those around them.

Prayer Suggestion: Thank You for Your power to cleanse from sin.
