Before Kings

Read Acts 25:1 through 26:32

In Luke 21:12, Jesus told His followers that they would be brought to trial before kings and governors because of their faith. Although the mental image of such a spectacle is terrifying, it gives an opportunity to proclaim the gospel to those in authority.

Paul found himself before King Agrippa and Governor Festus, and he made the most of his opportunity. He told them of his personal encounter with Christ and of the goodness and power of God. He fearlessly proclaimed the message and nearly won his audience for Christ.

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” (Acts 26:28).

Every believer will face an opportunity to declare the gospel, and some will have the chance to influence world leaders. In those moments, the Spirit can empower and embolden believers to speak the greatest truth to the greatest powers in this world. Should you find yourself standing before a king, trust God to help you proclaim the gospel.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: The courage to declare the gospel comes only from a close relationship with Christ.
