Read Deuteronomy 12:1 through 14:29
Have you ever known someone whose thinking on any given issue changed constantly? Maybe they followed the latest celebrity-endorsed fad diet. Or perhaps they have assumed a dozen different political identities. Changing one’s mind all the time about these things might make a person seem a little silly, but no eternal harm is done by such flip-flopping.
Unfortunately, some people will be this way when it comes to the things of God. Many will be deceived by false teachers who say things that seem to make sense, but can lure them away from full devotion to God.
God’s instruction on this matter is clear.
You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul (Deuteronomy 13:3).
May this be a test we pass with flying colors. No matter which way the wind blows when it comes to popular teaching, we must hold fast to God’s Word.
CHALLENGE FOR TODAY: Test everything you read and hear against God’s Word.
