Read Jeremiah 18:1 through 21:14
Jeremiah’s life would have been easier if he hadn’t been a prophet. No one wanted to hear his messages. Most of those who listened to him only did so to find reasons to make fun of him.
Quitting must have been tempting, but he found himself unable to keep from sharing the messages from God.
But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot (Jeremiah 20:9).
In the New Testament, when Peter and John were arrested and put on trial, they likewise claimed they couldn’t stop sharing the good news of Jesus (Acts 4:20).
When people become passionate for the truth and love of God, they find that they cannot help but tell others about Him. At times, silence might seem the better course, but it is not the one God’s followers should take.
